I am back again with an Indian Sweet recipe which is quite popular during the festival time. Today is an auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi. Starting from today, Lord Ganesha is worshipped for ten days and with this the festival season in India begins! On this occasion, I prepared these moong dal laddu which is very easy to prepare and is said to be loved by Lord Ganesha.
How to make the Laddus?
Four main ingredients are needed for the recipe which are available at home easily and takes under an hour to prepare. There are few pointers to be noted while preparing and they will come out perfect. You may add chopped nuts of your choice but we love these without nuts. Slightly sweet, aromatic melt in the mouth moong dal laddu is perfect for any occasion. It has a unique nutty flavor from the roasted lentils which makes it different from other laddus.
Before I share the recipe let us take some time to appreciate the Lord Ganesha idol which I got from Kerala when we visited 2 years back. It is made with a single coconut shell carved perfectly to give the shape of Lord Ganesh. Beautiful! Isn’t it?
Tips:
Stir continuously while roasting the lentils. The heat should always be at medium low or else it may burn and you must start all over again. You may wash the lentils thoroughly and completely air dry before roasting. Adding milk is completely optional. If the mixture feels very dry while making the balls you may add a tablespoon of milk to bind the mixture together.
