Summer is coming to an end! I am trying my best to try out recipes with the ingredients that are exclusive in this season. Mango is somewhat synonymous to Summer. I have already shared quite a few recipes of mangoes here .This recipe of sweet and spicy mango sauce however, came out quite by chance.
Few days back I went to the grocery store and came back with a batch of ripe mangoes. To my dismay, they were not as sweet as I expected to be. We both refused to eat so I thought of making a relish out of it. As I was about to blend the mangoes, suddenly it came to my mind why not make into a dressing?
How to make Sweet and Spicy Mango Sauce?
I added some chopped chili pepper, salt and blended it together. A quick taste test but it was missing something. Squeezed a lemon and added just a dash of salt and mixed well. It was perfect! That batch was over in a day. I had to go back to the store to bring back some more mangoes to make a big batch and click some photos to share here.
I slightly changed the recipe next time. Added few sprigs of mint leaves which gave it a fresh taste and to give a spicy kick I added a serrano chili. The end result was a sweet, a bit tangy and spicy dressing. The experiment was a success and it can be had with fried snacks as a dipping sauce, with salads or as a chutney with chapattis or roti. We had coconut shrimps with this sweet and spicy mango sauce and it was great! Try this if you have some mangoes in hand before it vanishes from the market. Enjoy the last few days of Summer!
Tips:
You may store the dipping sauce for 4-5 days in the refrigerator. Add the serrano pepper according to the level of spiciness you can handle.
